How good is the ShowStopper Hard Disk Recorders video quality?
The ShowStopper Hard Disk Recorder uses the MPEG 2 compression system, which allows a range of video quality settings. The ShowStopper Hard Disk Recorder’s compression rates are user-adjustable from the default setting of 2Mbps to 6Mbps. All storage times are calculated based on the default settings. At 2 Mbps (extended mode), the picture quality is equivalent or better than a VHS tape. At 4Mbps (Medium mode), the quality is equivalent or better than a SVHS tape. Above 4Mbps (high mode), the quality approaches the level of a DVD.
