How good is the open university reputation amongst employers?
The first poster is correct. In part. What he said is true, in many fields. But for law? The reputation of your law degree – of where you went to university – does matter quite a bit in terms of your ability to find a job once you graduate. Students from lower ranked unis, in the UK, have difficulty finding law jobs/placements. OU is a lower ranked uni. Speak to your professors, to your advisor, and to the careers center at the OU. Find out where past OU law grads have found places. Target those employers. If you can, try to gain as much real-world, practical experience in law while you study as you can. Do volunteer work, for example, with a legal aid society, or a charity working on issues re: battered women or human rights, etc. Build a bit of a resume/CV while you study in things that are kind of related to law, so that you can use that CV to better your chances when you graduate.
