How Good Is The Corrosion Resistance?
The corrosion resistance of a Sea Otter boat is second to none. Aluminium corrodes a lot less than a steel hull, even when left unpainted. This means there is no need to immediately re-touch scratches or to re-black the bottom of the boat. Our boats are painted for decoration only whereas steel boats must be periodically re-blacked in order to try and slow down the hull rusting through. In it’s defence, aluminium naturally forms a thin layer of aluminium oxide, which is incredibly resistant to corrosion.
