How fucking cool was it to perform Banana on Yo Gabba Gabba?
Brian: That was cool (haha). Christian the singer from The Aquabats organized that. Our first tour of the USA was supporting them, so we got to know those guys really well and adore them. The Banana song is actually the one track that was the musical inspiration for the direction of our band. We have performed it for years and we were doing that song on The Aquabats tour. When Christian started that TV show he called us up and asked to do Banana. We had to change a few of the lyrics around to make it more kind friendly. Ironically the song is not actually about bananas, it was fun. The way I looked at it was, “How cool would it be if my favorite band was on a show when I was kid. I remember seeing Tonk Hawk on Mr Rogers or some show like that and thought, “How cool was that?” I was really into skating back then. So is great getting to play some old school reggae for the kids. It has worked out well for us and a lot of parents are bringing their kids to our shows now, which is awesome.
