How free from chemicals or “preservatives” is Honey Mustard Sauce found in supermarkets for the most part?
Everything is made of chemicals – even you. Have you ever seen the chemical formula of wheat? It is impressive. Everything started off as natural until it was mixed with other things (e.g. flour and fat) to create new chemical compounds, often aided by heat. There is nothing on earth that is not derived from a natural source. When does it cease to be natural? When it is cooked or mixed or ground or pressed or separated? By that standard, very little food could be considered natural. In fact very little of ANYTHING can be made without these processes. Natural does not equal ‘good’. Lead is natural. So is arsenic and mercury and botulism and E-coli and so on. How much would you like in your ‘natural’ food? I prefer to buy food that contains things to stop it going rotten or to make it last longer. That is environmentally very sound and economically essential if the world is to feed itself from the available resources. I also prefer to use ‘chemical’ ingredients such as salt and baking so
