How fit do I have to be to practise SEPS Self Defense?
An average SEPS self defense class lasts 1 1/2 hours and contains periods of both high and moderate physical activity – if you haven’t a reasonable level of fitnes i.e. struggle to do 10 push ups, 20 sit ups and would have difficulty completing a mile long jog you will certainly feel the effort of a class. HOWEVER you are encouraged to work at your own pace and work to your own limits (classes are non-competitive in nature, if anything we encourage people to work together), which means that this is an ideal way for you to get fit if you’re lacking in this area. As well as being a Self Defense instructor I am also a qualified personal trainer so I am used to developing individuals personal fitness as well as conditioning them to survive a street fight. Whatever your fitness level you will be pushed to achieve a higher level but never beyond your capabilities.
