How fast do VUELTA riders travel?
For the group rider (Group C), the average VUELTA day is 15 mph average including rest sightseeing stops which means riding down the road at 16-20 mph. Self guided riders (Groups A & B) will no doubt scorch a few downhills carving every corner in sight well in excess of 25-30 mph!! Group A is for the elite, the racer, the hammerhead … while Group B will be riding at an average pace of 18 mph. The first day is the longest day and riders in the group ride are expected to arrive between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. .. That’s roughly nine to twelve hours of cycling!!
