How fast can one expect, if exposed, to see symptoms of radiological poisoning?
It all depends on the severity of the exposure. With a very mild exposure you can expect to see some nausea or diarrhea within a few hours. Those symptoms may last days but the individual can expect to survive if the exposure is mild enough. Severe exposures can lead to symptoms such as hair loss, lack of muscle response, and discoloration of skin within hours. Death, in such cases, follows in mere days. The long term effects, however, of radiation poisoning may not show any immediate symptoms but manifest themselves years later. In such cases sterility, various forms of cancer, and other effects upon the neurovascular system may be seen.
