How fast can I transfer recordings between TiVos?
The more you are doing on the DVR, the slower files will transfer between TiVos. For example, if you are recording two different HD programs while watching a third, previously recorded HD program, MRV transfer speeds will be slower than if you were watching live TV with both tuners set to SD channels (or channels you don’t receive). Wired transfers are faster than wireless. Wireless 802.11g throughput is limited to 15-17Mbps on the TiVo, and could be 10Mbps or less if you have a weak signal or sources of wireless interference (such as other adjacent wireless networks). Throughput will vary depending on whether you are transferring between two Series3 DVRs, two TiVoHD DVRs, or one of each. Note TiVo significantly improved MRV performance on the TivoHD with the 11.0 software.
