How fast can an MC Scow go?
As you can probably imagine, there is considerable debate on this question and the answer depends a lot on wind speed, sea conditions, condition of the boat’s hull and sails, and the ability of her skipper, but anecdotal evidence would suggest an answer could be as fast as 10 – 12 kts. (14 mph) while sailing in 30 kt. winds on a reach. In more reasonable conditions for sailing, however, an MC Scow might sail as fast as 6-8 kts.
