How far will network factors affect the quality of my streamed videos playback?
All networks (local networks, or dialup connections to the Internet) vary in performance according to the amount of network ‘traffic’ at any given point in time. Even the best quality video stream may be adversely affected by heavy data traffic on the same network. Video Streaming technology does take account of this and can, to an extent, adjust the rate at which video streams to the desktop in response to network traffic factors at the viewing time. This is not failsafe, however, and heavy congestion (or a ‘slow’ local network area) can still make playback far from smooth.
