How far is South Africa from Japan?
It is a more or less a 17 hour flight to South Africa. Actual time spent traveling time is longer due to stop-overs, as there is no direct flight to South Africa. The shortest stop-over is in Hong Kong which should add another one hour to your traveling time. Visitors can also transit via Singapore, Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok or other south east Asia cities. Other options include flying via Dubai and Istanbul. Please note that South African Airways (SAA) flies from Johannesburg to Hong Kong and co-shares with ANA from Hong Kong to Kansai.
