Yep, they look into your freshman year, including behavior. They used to start looking at behavior in 10th, but things have changed. My son’s extremely rigorous private school has a big Ivy matriculation. They used to give suspensions in 9th for minor issues, just so the kids could think about what they did. The kids tend not to get into trouble and are the type that are horrified and embarrassed at being *suspended*, so it worked. But now with colleges looking at 9th grade, they had to stop the policy of that kind of suspension last year because a college might look at it as if it were a true suspension for a problem that deserves suspension, which it really wasn’t. It was more like a time out. My dh participates in the admissions process for his Ivy alma mater, so I’m aware of what goes on. But even if they’re looking at freshman year, and maybe your grades, etc aren’t stellar, don’t let that stop you from applying. Stand out among your peers, that is what will get you into an Ivy. B
