For short-term scholar, research scholar, lecturer and visiting faculty, submit a J-1 visa request with materials for an academic appointment to your divisional academic HR coordinator at least 2-3 months in advance for scholars outside the U.S. The request form and sample letters are at http://oie.ucsc.edu/is3/staff.shtml .
