How far has the Nigerian PMI chapter gone in promoting the practice of project management in the country?
We have standards and PMI has done a lot in promoting the best practice of project management in the country. It has brought the awareness of best practices in project management down to people that are project managers in Nigeria. PMI has done a lot in that area. An example is what we have done today in Abuja, somebody bringing new ideas, new learning in project management, those are the benefits and things that, as a chapter, it is supposed to do. What is the level of acceptability of project management in Nigeria? In Nigeria, practically in the private sector especially the mobile sector, it is very high. It is above 50 per cent but in other parts of the private sector, it is less. I think the question is not about the acceptability, it is really about where there is need for accountability and efficiency. At the government circles, project management is very low.
