How far do you have to push the spigot end into the inside tapered bell end to make a solid and reliable joint?
The spigot end should be inserted into the inside tapered bell 4″ (102 mm) to form a solid and reliable connection. This, in conjunction with use of the manufacturer’s recommended epoxy adhesive, will result in a connection that can withstand a pull of over 1500 lbs per inch of trade size (e.g. 4 trade size = 4 x 1500 lbs = 6000 lbs) or 680 kgs per mm trade size.
