How far can the PC be from a Soundweb unit?

0

The RS-232 connection from the PC has a theoretical limit of 15m, although considerably longer distances seem to work in practise. If you want to take the PC further from the unit, it is recommended that you use one of the many RS-232 ex-tender products available at fairly low cost. These products usually work by converting RS-232 to RS-422 or RS-485, although some use their own protocol. Note that you will need to extend the handshake lines also. A separate document is available detailing the use of converters.
