The Ontario Electrical Safety Code requires that a minimum separation of 900 millimetres be maintained between gas and electric meters. CSA Standards require a minimum 300 mm horizontal and vertical separation be maintained between gas lines and electric cables. Hydro Ottawa strongly recommends that gas lines and electric cables be installed as far apart as possible.
