How exactly does the Privy Council work?
The Privy Council doesn’t make legislation. It’s largely a historical relic. The Privy Council is basically made up of the senior politicians. Senior politicians basically put their ‘Privy Council’ hat on when they advise the Queen. The Privy Council also functions as a final appelate court for many Commonwealth countries. When the Privy Council is covened for this purpose, it is made up of judges from the Supreme Court (formerly the House of Lords) sitting as the ‘Judicial Committee of the Privy Council’.
