How exactly does a colorimeter work, and how does light (or the EM spectrum) play a part in this? Also, what does transmission mean?
• Hi, I’m doing the investigation about acidity content of vinegars. I carried out a successful titration but am having difficulty with the chromatography. I tried using water as a solvent, but all the acids I used (tartaric, malic, succinic, ethanoic and lactic) rose to the same point. I have just tried butanol as a solvent and the results are clearer but very close together, and the vinegars themselves don’t seem to do a lot! The indicator I’m using is bromophenol blue. Any ideas where I might be going wrong or what I can do? Thanks. • I need to find the percentage iron, in cast iron, using a dichromate titration. What is the best way to dissolve the iron to form iron(II) without it oxidising to iron(III)? • I am doing my investigation on wines and their ethanol content but is there a link between ethanol content and sulphur dioxide content? Thanks. • I’m writing my very detailed plan out for an acid-base titration investigation to find the concentration of acid. How would I justify
