How energy efficient is Moose Ridge Log Homes?
Our log homes are some of the most thermally efficient homes being built today. Unlike regular wood framed structure, log homes are rated in “Thermal Mass” as opposed to “R” values. The “Thermal Mass Effect” relates to the ability in which heat transfers through the walls of a building is delayed by the wall mass. Logs can store the heat and “reflect” it back into the room. Because of their thermal mass and the cellular structure of the wood fiber, our homes are more energy efficient to heat and cool than a conventional frame home built with 2×6 construction and R19 insulated walls.
