How effective was the leadership of the PTS – Team?
Leadership of the PTS was very effective. The Director operated an open-door policy and made good use of informal and formal opportunities for communication with staff and volunteers at all levels. Leadership at area and team levels worked well and staff were clear about their delegated levels of responsibility. The Director had been in post for over a year and had developed a proposed new staff structure which would redistribute workloads and responsibilities. Local volunteers on area boards were well informed about the priorities of the Trust at national level and were encouraged to develop priorities in response to local needs. Links with local authorities and other key partners varied across the country and there was a requirement for an engagement strategy with other public sector organisations with similar goals to help deliver Team and other Trust programmes. Senior managers work shadowed programmes, including Team and gained a useful understanding of how the programme worked an
