How effective was assessment of progress and celebration of learner and community achievements?
The service had implemented a good range of effective methods to recognise prior learning. Information was held on the PIES system about each individual learner s prior learning. Most staff successfully assessed learner progress through the effective use of a range of appropriate assessment methods. Individual learning plans included learning diaries that provided literacy learners with evidence of their progression. Almost all participants were actively involved in assessing their own progress. However, the service was further developing this aspect to ensure improved consistency. The CLDS and partner agencies used very effective methods for monitoring the progress of the Neighbourhood Compacts in building the capacity of local communities. The CLDS should consider applying this good practice to other capacity building programmes. The achievements of almost all learners were recognised and celebrated by the CLDS.
