How effective is the withdrawal method against pregnancy?

I am sorry but it isn’t. I got pregnant with twins using the method and I (and the father) are 100 percent certain he pulled out before ejaculating. There is such a thing as precome that carries sperm, and it is such a small amount of come that you cannot feel it, he doesn’t even know he is doing it but it will happen every time you have sex, even if he never fully “gets off”. And I really want to urge you, if you do not want to have another baby soon, to stop using the method. Women are so much more likely to become pregnant within the first two years after having a baby than any other time, in other words, you are super fertile right now! There are tons of different types of birth control out there, they will provide it free at the health dept. and if you are uncomfortable with the hormones in normal birth control, and you do not like the feel of condoms, I hear they are bringing the sponge back and that neither kills the mood or makes you fat, lol! Good luck!

I will tell you my story, but I am NOT telling you to do this, because it does depend on the man and how fast he pulls out. If he just gets a little bit of *** or precum in you, that is all it takes though. We used the pull out method for seven years. (I got pregnant on the pill and felt it was safer, but I am sure it isn’t. I got pregnant on the pill while taking antibodics)… Well, anyways… We just used the pull out method and I didn’t get pregnant. When we tried to get pregnant, it took us EXACTLY one year (12 months long, as you know!). So, maybe that is the reason why we didn’t get pregnant is because it took us so long to get pregnant! That is kinda scary. I am now over 8 months pregnant and after I have him, I am going to get on the pill and use the withdrawl method. We have sex pretty much every day, too.. I hope it works for you,but you might want to consider getting on the pill, too if you don’t want another baby!

It’s a total myth that it doesn’t work. I used it effectively for 7 yrs & got pregnant very easily every time I tried…like the first month of trying, repeatedly. We have had issues with recurrent miscarriage (unrelated to our ability to GET pregnant which works well thankfully at least) and I have been pregnant now 9 times…every time on purpose…and NO accidents ever from withdrawal. It makes me wonder how honest these men are on how well they restrain themselves before pulling out to be honest when so many people claim such a high failure rate. I have never had to try more than a single cycle to get pregnant when I wanted to & never had to deal with an unplanned pregnancy – so clearly our ability to get pregnant is high. Here is an article that sites a study showing it’s almost as effective as condoms: http://abcnews.go.com/Health/Economy/sto… Here is a study SHOWING that there is NO mobile
