How effective is the use of positive punishment in animal training?

0

The shock collar is only one tool of positive punishment in dog training. Until about 10 years ago, the use of positive punishment (“corrections”) and negative reinforcement was considered the norm in dog training. However, studies on animal training and long experience by trainers of species of animals other than dogs support the use of positive reinforcement as the most effective training tool. I go into more detail on another page (see “Punishment”).
