How Effective Is The Unschooling Method?
I have been reading several resources on the Unschooling Method. I am not an expert on this topic but this is my opinion based upon what I have learned so far. I welcome any comments from parents that use this method. This review is not totally against the Unschooling Method. There may be some children who are more inquisitive than other children and this method may be perfect for them. I do, however, have some concerns. My biggest concern is whether or not the children are receiving an education that will prepare them for college? From what I have read, Unschooling is where the parent simply asks the child what he or she wants to learn about for the day. There is not any structure to learning. An example that was given in one of the resources has me very concerned. It was saying that it is okay for a child the age of 14 or 15 not to be multiplying and dividing, that when they show the interest is when they are ready to learn.
