How effective is ortho tri cyclen lo on second week?
Question: I’m just about to finish my second week of ortho tri cyclen lo which I just switched over from Cyclessa. Though I’ve been having a lot of side effects from cyclessa that when I went to see the doctor she immediately switched me to ortho lo on a Wed start. I talked to the doctor about getting back on a sunday start which means I will only take my last pills for 4 days and then switch to my new pack of pills. My husband didn’t pull out just recently, is there still a possibility I can get pregnant since I wont be finishing 3 days of my sugar (period pills) or am I ok? I’ve been pretty good about taking my pill on time. I was 25 min late by accident a few days ago but that was it. I was also told that I’m ok after 7 days of back up protection. Answer: It is generally suggested that a back up birth control method be used for the first 7 days of a new oral contraceptive, so as long as you didn’t have unprotected sex during the first week, your chances of being pregnant are small.
