How effective have Nigerias image branding effort – the Heart of Africa Project been?
Answer Abigail, I’m afraid I’m not familiar with Nigeria’s Heart of Africa Project, it’s purpose or it’s effectiveness. I can tell you in a general sense, that if you follow for instance the current campaign launched by China to polish its image in advance of the Olympic games, you will see that public relations can accomplish only so much in changing negative images reinforced by real events and actual policies. The further the image branding is from the reality ‘on the ground’, the more difficult it will be. That’s why campaigns of that magnitude tend to be very focused and limited in scope.
