How easy is it to teach yourself guitar and is it possible?

Well, when I first got a guitar, I played it by myself for the first 6 months without a teacher, and I did not buy any books to help me, because those are honestly a waste of money compared to the wealth of knowledge available on the internet for free. To begin with, I learned how to read tablature, which is a simplified form of sheet music for the guitar. Basically, tabs work like this: You have six strings on your guitar, and they are tuned EADGBe, E being the lowest note and closest to your face, and e being the thinnest and highest note, furthest from you. A little limerick (or whatever it’s called) I found helped me to memorize the tuning very easily (low to high): Every Adult Dog Growls Bites Eats Once I became familiar with the tuning of a guitar, I used a very reliable site (ultimate-guitar.com) to find some tablature for a simple song I wanted to learn calle Island In The Sun (great for beginners btw!). Just to give you an idea, this is what tablature looks like: e|—3——-
