How easy is it to get from Playa del Carmen to other destinations?

One of the best things about Playa del Carmen is its central location. It’s about equidistant from Cancun and Tulum and about an hour’s drive to either. Cozumel is only a 40 minute ferry ride away. Buses to Cancun and Tulum and points in between run very frequently and the fare is currently about $2.00 to Cancun and $3.00 to Tulum. Of course you can also rent a car. Cozumel is just a 40 minute ferry ride away. Currently the ferry costs about $7.00. This is a passenger ferry only and does not accept automotive vehicles.
