How easy is it to get a RA position ?
Manas: If you are a MS student — it is extremely difficult since you will be competing with PhD students for the same positions and most professors will give first preference to them. If you are a PhD student, you have good chances. Venkat: If you are a PhD student, the prof in question has funds, and the prof is impressed with your work, and you are willing to commit to a PhD with the prof, the chances are pretty high. If you are an MS student, and you can impress the prof, *and* the prof has funds to spare after funding his PhD students, there is a chance. Vaibhav: Depends on a lot of factors.
