How easy is it to buy property in Bulgaria?
If you are buying an apartment it is a relatively simple transaction. If the apartment you are buying is off plan you will normally be asked to leave a percentage of the purchase price as a deposit with the remainder being paid in stages until the apartment is completed. If you choose to buy a property with land or a plot of land to build on, under Bulgarian law foreigners are required to set up a company which will entitle them to acquire full land ownership rights (see Purchase Guides for more information).
