One can have quite healthy relationships while having Bipolar Disorder, the key is to get properly stabilized. Try to stay away from the atypical anti-psychotics and stick with Lithium, Depakote, and/or Lamictal (plus adjuncts like Nuvigil for combating sleepiness, or zoloft for the depressive side of the illness are ok) if you have Bipolar disorder, this is what I found was best from my experience. Once you are stabilized, you can live a healthy “normal” life, with all its wonders, including a loving and stable relationship. Sometimes relationships with people who have bipolar disorder can be even deeper and more sensual than an ordinary one as a result of the strong emotions a person with the illness has experienced.
