How easy/hard is it to get a rental in Melbourne without a job?
You really need to know this, there are not alot of rental homes available these days in melbourne, and because of that you can expect more than 15-20 people applying for the same home, so your chances are low if you do not have a job, because agents will most likely pick those who are employed. Another thing i noticed while trying to find a rental property a couple of months ago, is the rental market has become like a business, ive heard from alot of people that because it is so hard to be accepted, there is a way that people are using to make their chances higher on being accepted which is offering on the application 2,3,4,5,6 months, or up to 1 year rent in advance!!!!So basically if you have savings worth 3 months rent, you offer 3 months rent in advance on the application and obviously when you sign the lease agreement you pay the agent the 3 months rent in advance you promised on the application, before you move in.
