How early would a pregnancy show up on an ultrasound scan?

First of all, you likely won’t get an ultrasound scan unless you test positive for pregnancy. You can test using HPT 4 days before a period is due. With respect to pregnancy, if you do an ultrasund scan at 4-5 weeks (so a week after your period is due), you may see a gestatational sac (which is obviously sign of pregnancy though that doesn’t mean it is viable yet). At 6 weeks, you may see fetal pole and fetus possibly with heart-beat. At 7 weeks, you should be able to see both fetus and heart-beat. Good luck.

It may be too soon, I had my 1st ultrasound at 6 weeks, and even saw a heartbeat. I don’t think the doc would even do an ultrasound that early unless he thought there may be some complication. A blood test will do.

No it would not pick it up that early however may be able to notice changes in your womb. I think a transvaginal scan would pick up a pregnancy from approx 5 weeks but may not see a heartbeat that early.
