How durable are painted designs on wood floors?
Really durable. Many of today’s acrylic polyurethanes are very strong, also there are hardener additives specifically formulated for gym floors and other high traffic areas that make for a safe investment. I’ve installed hand painted medallions in restaurant entrances and dance floors and they’ve held up beautifully. My only caveat would be that some maintenance helps extend the life and finish of any wood surface. Every few years, a new coat of poly will extend the life and beauty of your art or border.
