How does Zoladex LA® (10.8mg) for men work ?

0

Zoladex LA (10.8mg) is a member of the anti-hormonal group of medicines: • Hormones are natural chemical signals, which are released by different parts of the body and can be carried in the blood to some other area to have an effect. • Hormonal therapy involving treatment with Zoladex, which is an analogue of an endocrine hormone called Luteinising Hormone. Releasing Hormone, (LHRH), stops the production by the testes of male sex hormones, including testosterone. • Testosterone is a sex hormone, which at certain stages of prostate cancer helps promote the growth of the tumour. • Zoladex works by blocking the production of testosterone and therefore reduces the levels of the male hormone. This stops or slows the growth of cancer cells and is sometimes called medical castration.
