Goserelin is a member of the anti-hormonal group of medicines: · Hormones are natural chemical signals, which are released by different parts of the body and can be carried in the blood to another area to have an effect. · Hormonal therapy involving treatment with goserelin, which is an analogue of an endocrine hormone called Luteinising Hormone-Releasing Hormone (LHRH), reduces the production by the testes of male sex hormones, including testosterone. · Testosterone is a sex hormone, which at certain stages of prostate cancer helps promote the growth of the tumour. · Goserelin works by reducing the production of testosterone.
