How does Zoladex® 3.6mg for women work ?
Zoladex works by blocking the action of hormones on some of the organs of the body: • Hormones are chemical signals, which are released by different parts of the body and can be carried in the blood to some other area to have an effect. • Hormonal therapy involving treatment with Zoladex, which is a type of medicine called a luteinising hormone-releasing hormone (LHRH) analogue or a gonadotropin releasing hormone (Gn-RH) analogue, stops the production of female sex hormones, including oestrogen. • Oestrogen is a sex hormone that promotes the growth of some breast cancers and can also promote the development of some benign gynaecological disorders in some women. • Zoladex is designed to block oestrogen production and reduce the levels of this female hormone, which stops or slows the growth of oestrogen-sensitive breast cancer cells. This can reduce symptoms associated with oestrogen activity in some benign gynaecological disorders.
