How does Wireless compare to DSL and cable modems?
Cable modems are devices that attach your computer to the cable TV network connection in your home. Potential bandwidth from cable is very high. However, cable service has a number of challenges. Among them are that cable service is a “shared connectivity” medium. The cable service connects hundreds or thousands of homes into a large Ethernet network. As more users are connected, the throughput of the connection slows down for all users. Shared networks also create serious security risks. Cable networks are broadcast oriented, with each subscriber in an area receiving the same signals as all others in that area. Wireless service is secure, encrypted, and broadcasted only to you.
