How does Wireless compare to Cable and/or DSL?
Wireless Internet access is more affordable than most broadband options. Especially when you consider that no additional phone lines are necessary. Cable is frequently oversubscribed, meaning that the cable company doesn’t use enough high-speed connections to the Internet backbone for the number of users on their system which causes Internet access to slow down. Also, cable availability is spotty at best in Capitol Hill. The cable company needs to upgrade their infrastructure in order to offer Internet access. This means that they need to dig up our streets and sidewalks. With wireless service antennas just needs to be installed – no construction (or destruction) is necessary. DSL depends on existing telephone wire. Here on Capitol Hill some of our wireline infrastructure is quite old. This age can effect the speed and reliability of DSL service.
