The Hotmail® Team also helps protect you from email scams by posting safety alerts. When you see the Safety Notice shield while using Hotmail, click on it for updated information. NOTE: Some security options apply only when using the web-based Windows Live experience to access your email (e.g not on desktop clients such as Outlook).
