How does window film strengthen security?
Films designed for security purposes are generally tough multi-ply films that are applied to the interior surface to make the glass difficult to break and more difficult to penetrate, even after the glass has actually broken. The combination of difficulty to break and penetrate the glass is a powerful deterrent. The chances of opportunistic smash and grab burglaries or a forced entry is greatly reduced. One important reason security film is so successful is the element of surprise. The intruder is expecting to proceed right through any glass obstacles and is unlikely prepared with necessary tools, the need for more time and the risk of being seen and heard. These are the elements of deterrence most likely to terminate any attempted forced entry.
