How does Western educate students about safety?
• The Western Police Department participates in crime prevention programming in a number of different venues. • Residence life staff provides information for students about protecting themselves on campus and utilizes a sophisticated locking system to help insure the students’ safety in the residence halls. • Western’s education on safety issues begin in orientation and are followed by programs throughout the year. • The Counseling Center offers individual counseling as well as educational sessions regarding a wide variety of personal safety and wellness issues. How does Western respond to a crime report? Western takes every report seriously and investigates all reports fully. Western routinely consults with other law enforcement agencies and the city and county prosecutor’s offices on cases.
