How does Weekend College work?
According to Sherry Schumann, associate dean, evening and Weekend College administrator, all of Collin’s core course requirements are offered as Weekend College classes. This means that students can earn associate degrees by exclusively taking Weekend College classes. Collin students can take 12 credit hours, or a full load, on the weekend or they can combine weekend courses with web courses or traditional courses. If students prefer to focus on one subject at a time, they can take up to four consecutive weekend express classes each semester. “Students need schedule options 24/7 to be able to balance work and family obligations with getting an education. Collin offers a two-year plan of weekend express block courses, available on the Weekend College web site, that allows students to know well in advance when each core course will be offered, so they can plan for degree completion,” Schumann said.
