How does weather effect satellite communication?
In both stationary and mobile satellite communication, there is a phenomenon called Rain Fade. This refers to the weakening of the satellite signal quality when it is interfered by rain, sleet or snow. Rain Fade can occur either at the uplink location (i.e. transmission from the teleport from which the signal is sent to the satellite) or at the download location (i.e. the reception antenna on a vehicle or at home).
