How does water bill compare with other bills and water bills elsewhere?
The average water bill is usually less than half the average electricity bill or the average telephone bill. This is so despite the fact that electricity costs make up a major part of the cost of supplying water! Water charges from the NWC are also among the cheapest in the region; it costs less than half the water charges from the average water supplier in the United States; and more than 1,000% less than the cost of bottled water. This is so despite Jamaica’s hilly terrain and the difficulties of supplying water to far-flung, variously populated areas!
