How does vvvv differ from other graphical programming environments like PD, Max/Jitter, or EyesWeb?
At the first look these programs look quite similar. Many users report liking vvvv more, as people seem to be able to do more powerful things more easy. VVVV was designed to work with spreads of data, doing many calculations always in parallel. Almost all nodes can be used to control multiple objects simultaneously (ie. graphical objects, input from different sensors, all mathematial and logical operations, or computers in a network). This means that you will need less nodes and gain much flexibility. This is especially beneficial when working graphically, as visual compositions often contain large numbers of graphical objects. VVVV only has one programming mode: run-time. One can therefore change paramaters in a patch or modify it in realtime. VVVV is not limited to work with video streams. You have very fine grained possibities for programming mathematical and logical dependencies. There are operations for string processing, sending and receiving data from external devices, network o
