How does verification differ from certification?
While the ETV Canada verification process results in the issuance of a verification certificate, it is not a certification process. Certification is a process normally restricted to meeting a legal, regulatory or professional requirement in order to do a specific thing, e.g. the right to practice medicine or engineering. Verification is a 3rd party process and opinion of what was done by someone else, to determine the validity of what was done. Also, certification also normally includes liability and is usually mandatory. Verification is a voluntary process. Back to top 17.
