How does V.90 compare to K56flex and x2?

A. V.90 will be the official ITU-T 56 Kbps modem standard. It is actually a third 56 Kbps modem protocol with the other two being K56flex and x2. K56flex and x2 were the two original “ad-hoc” standards for PCM modems. These two protocols were developed before the ITU standard was defined and consequently they do not interoperate. In addition, K56flex and x2 do not interoperate with V.90.
